Cheika Wants Consistent Performance By Wallabies

Australia coach Michael Cheika has said if his players want to avoid another poor performance such as their 29-26 loss to France then they should train harder and more consistently. 18 turnovers were given by Wallabies in Saturday’s match which was almost won by them after a late rally. But Cheika acknowledged his team deserved defeat and insisted his players to do more effort during training if similar results are to be avoided in future.“To make ourselves consistent is the biggest thing for us, “said the coach. “We can play well every week if we train well every day by keeping our standards high, “added Cheika.

“This will not happen in few weeks. That is something we will have to keep working on it.” Australia’s performance was far away from their 33-28 win against Wales in Cardiff a week before. Cheika said they were lucky enough to still have a chance near the end particularly when Sebastien Tillous-Borde and Teddy Thomas produced first half tries but they were leading only by 17-16 at the break. “You cannot have a constant upward growth in rugby, it is not exponential, “Cheika said. “You do well some days and some days you do not. Opportunities were there on this day but we did not avail them at all.”
